February 2018

We celebrated February 2nd as usual for Groundhog Day.  I didn’t get too crazy with it, mainly because it was requested by a couple of family members NOT to have meatloaf in the shape of a Groundhog. Also because I spent all day working, then volunteering at the elementary book fair. We did have some delicious Parmesan garlic beef and vegetable skewers and grilled pineapple instead. For the groundhog theme, we had Groundhog S'mores and watched Groundhog Day.

On the 13th,  we celebrated Mardi Gras with a pancake Tuesday breakfast, jambalaya dinner, and a sopapilla  cheesecake made into a king cake (totally ripped off this idea from Joy). Christian’s tiny Lego creation he wittily named toy Yoda stepped in for baby Jesus hidden in the cake again this year. Faith was the lucky finder!

Valentine's Day started with a quick heart themed breakfast (that's microwave bacon and Toaster Strudels).

I talked Christian into one final photo Valentine and he chose slime in heart-shaped containers for the treat and this message:
So funny that he has slime dripping off his fingers as the pose :D

Tony came through with his traditional gifts of See's chocolate hearts and suckers.

Our "romantic" dinner was salmon instead of our usual spaghetti.

And Bud is classy as ever with the sparking cider!

Tammy and grandma doorbell ditched and left awesome goodies!

We celebrated Chinese New Year on the 16th by visiting Ocean Mart in Roy which is a huge grocery store of Asian products. We loved the giant Budda at the front of the store

and we purchased an array of products to try, as well as some decor.

We cheated with dinner, having Panda Express takeout.

On the 17th we all drug our mattresses into the family room and had a movie night sleepover!

February 19th was Presidents' Day. We had patriotic waffles and some sausage in the shape of a log cabin for breakfast, watched North by Northwest (it has Mt. Rushmore, so that counts, right?) and Christian did a white house craft.
