Here is silly Skittles on March 3rd playing with her squeaky ball on the floor next to my desk. So noisy while I'm trying to work!

But whatever made her happy that day was okay because it was her birthday! Christian made her this cute felt bone toy:

I didn't make it into any other photos that month, so here is a selfie I took on the 4th.

On March 11th we enjoyed the beautiful weather at the park,

and then went to eat at the Chinese buffet.

We had some more octopus,

and the kids ate Jello with straws like they used to when they were little :D

Mom and dad met up with some of dad's relatives. He posted on Facebook, "March 13th, we spent a few hours with cousins from the Davis side of the family and Uncle George Crane. We also Skyped with Aunt Marva and cousin JoLynne in Las Vegas. We were at Sue Bahm's home in Kaysville (close to Boondock's)."

Of course we celebrated Pi day on the 14th and here is a selection of our pies that day:
marionberry pie from Smith's, pot pies for dinner, then low-carb for me a crustless quiche and tiny sugar free cheesecake in a ramekin.

And one dessert pie wasn't enough, so we made chiffon cheesecake, as well!

The evening of the 16th, per tradition, Christian set out an elaborate Leprechaun trap.

The Leprechaun did not get trapped, and did also not do very many tricky hijinks, but luckily Christian found this when he came home from school on the 17th:

We had a super fun dinner! In addition to corned beef, cabbage, and roasted veggies, we had sugar free lime cream cheese jello salad, green & gold fruit kabobs (with grapes, kiwi and pinapple), and a rainbow veggie tray.

March 18th we went to see Beauty and the Beast live action movie at the theater. Faith did her nails special for the occasion.

To our delight, Belle was there at Centerville Legacy theater!

On the 25th we took a trip to Smith & Edwards where the kids got their gummy candies.

The 29th was Buddy's class program. It had a Utah theme.

He was even selected to do a square dance.

On March 30th there was a JetBlue Reservations employee get together that someone set up at Olive Garden. It was fun to put a real face to lots of people I only previously knew from their picture on Facebook.

It was fun! Two people even brought cute treats for everyone.

February 2017

Of course we celebrated Groundhog Day on February 2nd!

We did donut hole/donut groundhogs for an early breakfast before taking Faith to school (she's not doing a lot better, but has been making it to school some days!!),

and Bud checked to see if there would be a shadow at our house. It was a no, so we are hoping for an early spring!

 

That night I was at Bunco, but left the supplies for the kids to make these treats while watching the movie:

 

 We also found out that Grandma Tesch had passed away.

Gwen Davis Peterson Tesch

1925 ~ 2017

 
   Gwen was born on May 6, 1925 in Parker, Idaho, to Samuel F. and Temperance Davis.  She spent her school years in Las Vegas, Nevada, graduating from Las Vegas High School. She married Arthur “Dan” Peterson on January 4, 1946 in the Manti LDS Temple.  They moved to Ogden, where they had six children – three still living.
   Gwen was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings, including Relief Society President and a temple worker at the Ogden Utah LDS Temple.  She served with Dan on an LDS Building Mission to the Netherlands from 1963 to 1965.
   She was divorced and she married Herman B. Tesch on November 20, 1973.  They served together in the Pennsylvania Harrisburg Mission from 1976 to 1977.  Herm passed away on December 19, 1991. 
   Gwen is survived by her children, Sandra (Elwood) Powell, Ron (Debra) Peterson, and Gary (Anne) Peterson; nine grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
   Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.  Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary.  Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.

Such a great and strong woman! She will be very missed.

Earlier that day, I had been at Smith's and allowed Christian to pick a "treat" off the discount endcap. What he found was this:

Metal "ice cubes" which won't melt in your drink. Such a funny and crazy thing for him to want! They were still $6, but I looked on Amazon and they were $28! I let him get them, we take them home, he opens the box...and they are missing! Someone had stolen them out of the box. Christian, of course, had a melt down. We went back to Smith's, they didn't have any more on the clearance rack and weren't getting any more in as they were a seasonal item. They refunded our money and my buddy was very sad. Later that evening, an employee noticed some in another location in the store, they looked up my phone number with my loyalty card info and told me to come pick them up! They really have the best employees at that store!

On February 4 we went to grandma Tesch's funeral.

A beautiful service and then to the graveside and lunch at the church.

A true celebration of an amazing woman!

On the 7th Faith got her driver's permit. She has been so excited to drive and is finally having some better days where she feels up to it.

On the evening of the 10th Faith was wanting to drive, so we thought up a reason to go somewere: doughnuts!

After arriving home, Christian was busy crafting something for some time and then presented his sister with this--

an award for not killing him with her driving LOL!!

February 11th I couldn't resist a pic of Skittle Butt snuggling her Buddy.

Later that day we stopped by the dollar store and traversed the forest of balloon strings!

At Riot on the 13th we wore red to recognize American Heart Health month

The 14th Christian made this snazzy Valentine box--a Lego man sitting on the toilet, all made from Lego set boxes!!

I made heart cinnamon sugar biscuit donuts and rosebud shaped bacon for breakfast.

I went to school later that day to volunteer at the Valentine party. I had ice cream, pink soda, sprinkles, and licorice straws for the kids to make themselves "cupid floats."

They also got to make emoji face felt pillows and play some fun games!

That evening we went to see the Lego Batman movie for the $5 Tuesday price. It was SO FUNNY!

After we got home, Lana and Tammy ding-dong-ditched the kids with some Valentine treats.

 

Only bad thing about this day--my heart broke when one of my best friends moved to Utah county.

This is February 19th but is a common sight during the blustery cold winter. Kids playing X-Box games while their puppy snoozes.

To celebrate President's Day on the 20th I tried my hand at making some Washington and Lincoln pancakes.

Also printed out a Mt. Rushmore paper craft for Buddy to make.

February 28th we celebrated Mardi Gras/Pancake Tuesday with some sugar-free grain-free protein pancakes. Surprisingly, Christian still seemed excited about them!

Christian got his haircut by his favorite stylist, Joseph.

For dinner, I made a version of the Monte Cristo sandwiches we love at Disneyland. Ham and cheese wrapped in dough and fried, dusted with powdered sugar, and with a homemade berry compote on the side. They turned out yummy!

For dessert we had King cake, minus the baby. Instead, we used what we had--a tiny Yoda figure! Faith was the lucky one, we hope that translates into health this year!!
