On October 1st this baby was delivered to us. I had found out a few weeks before that I'd won a contest by commenting on the "Modern Parents Messy Kids" blog. It's a wireless Dyson worth $500!!!
On the 3rd Faith was at color guard practice when she missed catching her flag and it landed, pole end, on her fresh from surgery toe! It looked like bloody hamburger so I took her right over to Kaysville Tanner clinic :(
October 4th I made chocolate chip pancakes for the fam and sugar-free ricotta pancakes for myself.
Bud had more costume fun at the grocery store that day.
We decided to do a "buffet restaurant" type breakfast on the 5th for General Conference. I filled the crockpots with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, hashbrowns & orange rolls so we could just chow, at will, all morning.
For lunch, I made three kinds of soup and did kind of the same thing while listening and working on a puzzle as a family.
October 6th we went to Black Island Farms with Joy & Jordan's family, Jordan's parents and sister Calli with her little boy.
Lana & Tammy got there just in time for pig races!

We went to Gardner Village with Lanae, Tammy & Tina on the 11th. Christians face painting was supposed to be a snake like the red face in the picture behind him, but it was a little bit unusual.
We couldn't get Christian to stop photo bombing all the pictures quit!

On October 17th we enjoyed frightmares with grandpa Peterson.
Joy's family came a bit later and we got to hang out with them, too.
We couldn't stay too late, however, because the kids had a sleepover that evening at Braeggers' and got dressed up in their costumes to go to dinosaur Park with them.
For breakfast on the 19th Faith and I made apple cider crullers (donuts) along with the Staples. They turned out pretty well.
We've still been watching once upon a time as a family. Skittles likes to snuggle up while we watch.
October 21st Christian got to go to Black Island Farms again with his Cub Scout pack.
It was also Faith's first choir performance at the school. They sounded so great!
For young women's on the 22nd the girls used Halloween make up to make Faith a zombie!
She dressed up again on the 24th for nerd day at Centenial.
That night was Joy and Jordan's Halloween party and we continued our tradition of making fun treats for it. There was witches brew avocado hummus with sweet potato jack-o'-lanterns, skull cucumber, ghost yellow squash, finger carrots and radish eyeballs (& red pepper strips and sugar snap peas just because they're delicious);
candy corn made from pineapple, Mandarin orange, and apple;
deviled eggs which were supposed to have a stencil of paprika in the shape of a spider, but did not really turn out (Pinterest fail!);
Zombie booger green candied popcorn;
and meringue bones because Christian begged to make them again, and he covered them with cocoa powder dirt.
I was an 80s girl, Christian was the Grim Reaper with bleeding chest and Faith was a dark angel.
Joy's family were all Pirates,
and Eric was Dr. Horrible.
We celebrated Faith's 13th birthday on the 25th. To honor the holiday her date of birth falls on, she chose a Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) theme this year. She did such a great job with her sugar skull cake!
On the 26th at mom and dad's we continued the birthday party and also did Halloween activities. Here, the kids are doing a "minute to win it" game of blowing paper cups off the piano bench with air from a balloon.

On October 28th I made shepherds pie extra spooky with mashed potato ghosts.
The 29th was the ward Halloween party. The kids were bummed that there wasn't a trunk-R-treat this year, but instead there was soup for dinner and some carnival games.
On the 30th we took dad back to Frightmares because he hadn't gone through the haunted houses before.
Christian really wanted to go through, but was too scared at first. He finally did do one or two and thought the performers who roam the outsides were pretty cool.
We love us some Hackenslashers!

On Halloween afternoon we went to Braegger's early for some Chili,
trick-or-treated at Peterson's,

Buddy was sad that part of the night Faith went around with some friends, but other than that it was a great holiday!
