January 2013

Faith started off the new year by getting her braces back on! Here she is, looking shiny at her orthodontist's on January 8th. She got purple, mint green and white elastics.
That night, she had a wire from her braces poking the inside of her cheek and really hurting her. It was hours of her whining and crying and us shoving every sticky substance we could think of onto it after the braces was wouldn't stick. nothing worked. Finally, Tony tried to bend the wire back towards her teeth with the pliers and, POP. Off came the bracket!

On the evening of January 10th, it snowed, and snowed, and snowed! Tony was getting home from work late and I had to go out and shovel his side of the driveway, otherwise his car would not make it up and into the garage. I couldn't believe how deep and heavy the snow was! It was definitely a good workout.

The next day it snowed even more and the kids got a snow day off from school! Tony took the day off work, too. I decided that I would work since it would take all morning for Tony and the kids to shovel snow and I was still sore from the night before. As I was working and watching them out the front window, after they got some of the snow clear, here came our neighbor, Luke Johnson, with his small front end loader/backhoe machine and cleared off the rest for them! After I got off work we went to YogoTogo for some soup & frozen yogurt.

On the 12th we took Faith to a ballroom dance competition at Mountain View High School in Orem. Her partner was Kyle Lortz from our ward.

They did a great job, and their group won bronze. After the competition, there were some numbers by seasoned ballroom dancers. The teachers did a great performance, as well as some couples from UVU and BYU.

Since we were down south, we stopped by Cabellas.

This is a pic of Skittles after she rolled around the bed on her back on the 17th. Crazy hair!

On the 22nd, I picked up Joy's girls (since she had such terrible morning sickness that she couldn't go) and went to Brendan's Eagle Scout Award Ceremony. We loved seeing this live bald eagle.

On the 26th we decided to get Buddy's hair cut at a salon. I wasn't loving how I'd been cutting it and thought I could use a few tips. He had only had it cut by a professional once before--for his first haircut! He was really upset because he already hates haircuts, and having someone besides me cut it seemed even scarier to him. To his credit, even though he did cry a bit, he was completely silent and still in the chair.

After that, Tony got himself some shoes and we went out to eat at Olive Garden. When Christian's asked to "cheese" it up for the picture, he really gets into it!

I was cleaning out my desk drawer and came across these notes from Buddy. Maybe I've already posted them, or some like this, but these are my favorite two of all time! The kids know they have to be completely quiet while I'm working, but they will still bring all their drama, fighting, and begging in to me and just write me notes about it. I couldn't figure out this one for the life of me:
When I was finally on break, I asked Christian what "pos 11 mom" meant. He said that he wanted me to type the iTunes password into his iPod to get a game, and he wanted me to pause my work phone and do it for him. (I can occasionally hit the mute button if the customer or my support team has me on hold, I guess he calls this "pausing the call.") So that's what this says: pos (pause) and then the two lines which represent pause on the remote! Here's another great, Faith tattling on Buddy, then Buddy drawing a picture of Faith choking him!

On the 27th after church, Faith noticed something moving in the field behind our house and we all ran to the back door to find a fox! We've heard other neighbors talk about seeing them for years, but this was our first time.

Buddy still requires a bunch of fancy breakfasts and board games before school. Here we are on the 29th after games of Clue Jr., Pop the Pig, and Cars Trouble. Skittles is growing into her beautiful adult self and looks so cute in this picture.

We'd gotten a ton more snow and after getting dressed Buddy and I did some more shoveling. Luckily, another neighbor with a snow blower came and cleared the rest off after we were about halfway done.
This is the deepest snow we have ever had in Kaysville! What a crazy snow year.
